Ross Chastain Claims Pole For Go Bowling At The Glen

Ross Chastain claims pole for Go Bowling at The Glen

Chastain edges Hamlin in dramatic qualifying session

Ross Chastain will start from pole position for Sunday's Go Bowling at The Glen after a dramatic qualifying session at the upstate New York road course. Chastain edged out Denny Hamlin by just 0.007 seconds to claim his second pole of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Chastain's pole-winning lap was a 1:10.743, just ahead of Hamlin's 1:10.750. Chase Elliott qualified third, followed by Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell.

Chastain's strong qualifying performance continues

Chastain has been one of the most consistent qualifiers in the Cup Series this season, earning multiple top-five starting spots. He has led the field to the green flag twice this year, including at the Daytona 500.

Chastain's qualifying performance at The Glen is a good sign for his chances in Sunday's race. The 29-year-old driver has never won a Cup Series race on a road course, but he has shown strong speed on these tracks in the past.

Hamlin, Elliott, and Larson also strong contenders

While Chastain will start from the pole, Hamlin, Elliott, and Larson will all be strong contenders for the win on Sunday. Hamlin is a two-time winner at The Glen, while Elliott and Larson have each won once at the track.

The Go Bowling at The Glen is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 20. The race will be broadcast live on NBC.
